Hot Buttered Rum

November 11, 2014

As the weather is getting chillier I have started looking for some nice warm cocktails to enjoy in the evenings while we relax. As much as I like a fruity cool drink they don’t play well with cool weather evenings.

Hot Buttered Rum

2/3 cup brown sugar, 1 stick unsalted butter (room temperature), 1/4 cup honey, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg, splash of vanilla, pinch of salt, 3/4 cup spiced rum, 2 cups boiling water and sticks of cinnamon for garnish.

In a 4 cup measuring cup place the brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, honey, and butter. Mix until smooth add in the rum and boiling water, stir until dissolved. Divide among the cups and add cinnamon sticks for garnish.

This would be a perfect drink to make after a night of caroling this season or for your holiday party. It is smooth and warming and tastes like the holidays!
