The best way to improve your photography is to take a LOT of pictures, and I mean all the time. I took pictures for around 3 continually before I ever offered to take photographs for people. It is big commitment because of all the things you have to remember just in your settings alone. One of the things I suggest is doing photo walks and just like it sounds you start walking and take photos of anything and everything along the way. My friend Kelly asked if I could help her out so on our only sunny day last week we took off on a photo walk and here are some of the images I captured during our adventure.
While photo walks are great practice in general, I would suggest picking one area to work on so that you get the most from your walk whether that be finding the sweet spot with your aperture settings or practicing backlit photography. And my second piece of advice is practice a lot with objects at first, they don’t complain when you take a little longer to adjust your settings for correct exposure. Good luck with your photography practice!
