Aurora Public Library District Website Redesign |

In January, I helped the Aurora Public Library District launch their new website! I was so thankful to be a part of this project and give them a website with many new features including a blog! They now have the ability to really connect with their patrons and get more information about library services and programs in front of the people they are reaching.

The AutoOracle Website Design & Development |

We launched a website landing page for the AutoOracle app we also launched in January. Which also makes me so excited to say that I know have apps in the App Store and Google Play Store! If you are like me and want to get a second opinion or expert advice on all matters dealing with your automobile then you should definitely check out this app.

You can read more about both of these projects on my web design site.

I Finished My January Reading Goal!

February 15, 2016

I set out at the beginning of January with a reading list with one book a month. I used to read ALL the time when I was in middle school and high school but I got away from it when I had all the reading in college to do. I’ve done some reading since then but not as much as I would like so I made it a goal for 2016! And I am so excited to say that I finished my first month’s book! I even shared a book review of it on The Aurora Public Library District’s blog today! If you are interested in technology or coding or even code writing/breaking you should check out Mr. Penumbra’s 24-hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan! I hope you are having a happy Monday so far I’m doing my best to stay in and warm from the snowstorm we got last night, I might even get back to February’s book once I’ve gotten done with work for the day.

Thanks for celebrating my win of accomplishing my January reading goal! I’d love to celebrate your 2016 goals with you! Let me know what you were able to mark off or work on in January to get closer to your goal!

They are having two parties, a wedding and reception in Idaho and then a little later a reception in Indiana for family and friends who live in Indiana so they wanted invitations that were similar for both occasions.Wedding Invitation |

Wine & Cheese Date Night In

February 9, 2016

Date Night In Wine & Cheese Night |

For 2016, we are making a conscious decision to treat nights in as special date nights. So far we have done things like board game nights, cooking together. It has been really fun and more of a mindset shift than anything because we do all the things we did before like our freelance work or cleaning and even laundry but we think about it like a date. Then you have moments like this where you say “Hey we get to do this on our next date night!” and your husband says “I thought we just had one” and you have to admit that every night that you take time for each other is a date night!

Romantic date nights are a must, we have lots of fun date nights in and out but a Wine & Cheese date night is a simple easy romantic date night to have in. And you can use the opportunity to try new cheese flavors. We light to do this when we want a light dinner. I also like to keep different ingredients on hand so that we can enjoy this kind of date at a moment’s notice. It is really simple to make a cheese, you just need a few basic components.

  1. A few types of cheese, choose some from different categories like a soft cheese, a semi-hard cheese, and hard cheese.
  2. Some fruit like an apple or grapes
  3. A bread or cracker. If I want to feel really fancy I grab a fresh baguette and slice it up.
  4. Additional treats like nuts, trail mix, and olives.

With that you have the start to a great cheese board and date night.

Date Night In Wine & Cheese Night |

Another great part of having a wine and cheese date night means ultimate customization. There is not a right or wrong way to put one together. One this particular night we went for trying 3 different kinds of white cheese Munster, swiss and gruyere. I then added some pecans I had on hand as well as grapes and crackers. We also tried this hard salami that was soaked in red wine… it was delicious. Sometimes we add mustards or preserves or different types of fruit. This is also a great opportunity for you to try different kinds of wine. This time, we chose a red blend and it went well with the flavors of the wine, fruit and meat.

Another time we light to do a wine & cheese night is the night we go grocery shopping. We use the opportunity to pick out our wine and cheese and then by the time we get home it is easy to throw together with minimal effort after you are already tired from hanging out in the grocery store.

My First Fix

February 3, 2016

My First Fix | happyapple.usI decided to try out Stitch Fix. I was so nervous, I started and stopped several times but I finally decided to pull the trigger so to speak and to get my first fix. Like most things in my life I do a lot of research on it before hand. I read several other blog posts about how to get good fixes. I mean I was potentially only going to do this once and I didn’t want to waste my time or theirs with stuff that wasn’t me. I was so excited to finally decide to get my first box and then couldn’t wait for it to arrive.

My First Fix |

When I opened the box I laughed out loud. Even though this was my first fix I felt like my stylist “got me”! Here was a whole box of things I would love to have, in styles I love, in colors I love. Black & white! It was fun. It was also even funnier because earlier in the week Gunnar told me he didn’t think he could take one more black and white pattern. Apparently, it has begun to be my thing. Time to switch it up!

My First Fix |

One of my favorite things about trying Stitch Fix was getting to try the clothes on at home. I know I could go to a store and buy stuff come home and then return it but that’s a lot of time I’m giving up just to try things on. I really liked getting to put outfits together of my pieces, it was  great to see what I had in my closet that I could put with the ones from my fix. Even if you don’t blog and you try stitch fix I think it was really beneficial not only to try on my pieces but style them so that I could evaluate how the piece would fit in with my current wardrobe.

I spent some time upfront really thinking about what I would want and trying to pin images that represent not only things I like but things similar to what I own. I tried to be as thorough and truthful about what I wanted and liked on my style profile. So without further ado here were my pieces.

My First Fix |

This Abigale French hoodie was so outside of what style shirt I normally get, it was a great experience to try it on. I liked the contrasting pocket and the weight of it was great too, something that could easily transition to spring. I also thought the contrasting pocket and strings were a great detail. I didn’t keep it however the collar didn’t work out very well with my shape and the whole thing kept riding up even when I only had it on to try it out.

My First Fix |

My First Fix |

The Tina Checkered Infinity scarf is great, it is really soft and incredibly warm. I definitely had to add it to my keep pile. I love that buffalo plaid print on it and have a scarf addiction problem so it was a no-brainer. I am also wearing the Reagan Skinny Pant which were crazy comfortable. I had just purchased a new pair of black skinny pants so I didn’t keep these but they were great.

My First Fix |

This dress, the Bonita from Brixon Ivy was 100% on point for me, I already own 3 other black dresses that are very similar so I didn’t keep it but it was exactly me. I am on the look out for a dress that is similar to this with pockets so I can wear it to weddings and have a place for my lens caps and other things I like to keep on hand during a wedding day.

My First Fix |

I fell in LOVE with the Rada 3/4 sleeve top, I have been looking for a new stripped shirt for a while, my last one was getting really tired. The material is so soft, and I love the length, I think I could wear it with some leggings for a comfortable weekend outfit. Or dress it up with some jeans and a vest. Another feature of this shirt I loved, which surprised me, was the side panels. At first, I was like really? White side panels? but I liked how the silhouette looked once I had it on. So this was also a keeper!

My First Fix |

I promise I sweep my floor every day! But apparently keeping the salt out during the winter is going to be an uphill battle for us. Ha! I am so excited to continue Stitch Fix, I already have my next fix scheduled!
