As I had mentioned yesterday this last week we hosted Grill Week at our house. We came up with a list of meals for the week and paired them up with movies. We then invited friends to come throughout the week.
We chose several new meals to try and mixed in some meals that are our favorites. We really enjoyed the week and look forward to hosting another week like this in the future but we did learn that we would want to end the week with a really simple meal to prepare because even though we try to cook everyday for ourselves we were tired at the end of the week.
Our meals were as follows :
Monday : Barbecue Burgers, Corn on the Cob and Strawberry Shortcakes
Tuesday : Cilantro Lime Chicken, Mango Salsa, Cilantro Lime Rice
Wednesday : Beer Brats and Baked Beans
Thursday : Barbecue Alaskan Salmon and Grilled Asparagus
Friday : Spicy Thai Pork Kabobs, Salad, and Corn on the Cob
Every meal turned out to be a great success and it was really nice to see friends all week. Here are some of the pictures taken during the week.
This technique makes the best grilled asparagus ever. It has great flavor and is very tender. You need a big piece of foil, enough to make a packet around the asparagus, fresh asparagus, butter, garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper.
Lay out the asparagus and drizzle with a little olive oil, add pats of butter, minced garlic, and salt and pepper to taste. Grill inside the packet for 8 minutes and check for tenderness.
Over the next few weeks I’ll share a few of these new recipes.
