DIY Lamp Makeover

I don’t know about you but I feel like the lamps that I like are all out of my budget. So I started looking at the current lamps I own to see if I could update them rather than purchasing a new one. Here is my first experience with updating my bedside lamp.

All you need is a thrifted lamp, spray paint, and materials to cover the parts you don’t want to paint. Remove the lamp shade and cover the parts you don’t want to get paint on. Make sure everything is sealed up tight.

Then start painting away I think I painted 3 coats on to get an even finish. I was a little worried the paint was going to have droplets when it dried because it looked like it when the spray paint hit the surface. It seemed to dry evenly though.

While the paint on the lamp was drying I took black acrylic paint and painted the words I love you more over and over on the shade. It isn’t perfect and I didn’t want it to be. I love how it turned out. The shade had a texture to it so the paint didn’t go on smooth so if you have a smoother lampshade the paint will look a little more solid.
