Last week we went over to a local cemetery to practice taking pictures around my town of Muncie, Indiana. When I go to practice I sometimes have to find different things to photograph or I just end up with the same stuff over and over. Have you all been to an old cemetery? They have some real hidden gems in there with the different headstone styles. I love the meanings behind some of the symbolism used in old headstones. If you happen to have an older cemetery near you should take a trip through sometime and take a look. You might be surprised at what you find. Here are some of our favorites from the night.
Also when practicing, choose one aspect of photography to work on. This little tip really kept me from getting overwhelmed with things like depth of field, exposure, composition. And if you are practicing who cares if you don’t compose the image correctly if you are working with getting exposure correct. It is all for practice anyway.
